If you are a serious runner and are looking for a treadmill for home use, you may be wondering what treadmills go faster than 12 mph or even 15 mph. Understandably, you want to get as fast a treadmill as possible so that you can train harder when needed.
What you should know is that the top speed of home treadmills normally doesn’t exceed 10 mph or 12 mph. This means that you should be looking at treadmills for commercial use or very advanced models of treadmills intended for home use.
Luckily, we’ve done the research for you and here are the treadmills that go faster than 12 mph and their pros and cons:

NordicTrack T 7.5 S
Max speed: 13.6 mph (22 km/h) | Incline: 12% | Max weight capacity: 275 lbs (125 kg) | Running area: 20” x 60” (50.8cm x 152.4cm)
NordicTrack T 7.5 S has a large running area which makes it suitable for tall runners. Its top speed will keep your workouts challenged while the incline option will add some variety to your workout routine.
This treadmill is compatible with the iFit workout app so you can access virtual training if you like and get motivated when you need it.
This is perfect for home use since it’s foldable (vertically) so if you don’t have much space at home this feature will come handy.
Unfortunately, if you are on the heavier side this fast treadmill may not be for you but in that case, you can always go for a slightly more advanced model – T 8.5 S which can take up to 135kg in weight.
ProForm Pro 2000
Max speed: 13.6 mph (22 km/h) | Incline: -3% – 15% Quick Incline™ | Max weight capacity: 297.6 lbs (135 kg) | Running area: 21.6” x 59.8” (55 cm x 152 cm)
Proform Pro 2000 treadmill also has a top speed of 13.6 mph but what sets it apart from other similar models is its decline functionality. This is a useful feature to have so you can target specific muscles or just train running downhill.
Its running area is large and will suit heavier and taller runners who like to feel comfortable on a treadmill without having to worry they will fall due to lack of space.
Another positive thing about this treadmill is an in-built CoolAire™ fan which is a really cool feature not many treadmills can boast about. This fan has two speed settings, you just need to pick the one that suits you better.
This treadmill is also foldable, an iFit enabled and has an integrated tablet holder. What else can you wish for?
The only negative about this treadmill is probably its 10-inch touchscreen (which is on the smaller side) but this will be totally acceptable by many people. It’s also been reported by some people that the fan is a bit noisy.
LifeSpan TR5500i
Max speed: 13.5 mph (21.7 km/h) | Incline: -2% – 13% | Max weight capacity: 350 lbs (158.7 kg) | Running area: 22″ x 60″ (55.8 cm x 152)
LifeSpan TR5500i treadmill is a home treadmill suitable for advanced runners that will achieve up to 13.5 mph speed. It folds away (vertically) so it’s perfect for those who don’t have much space in their homes.
It has whopping 50+ built-in workouts which will help you vary your workout routines and make things more interesting for you.
Its notable features include integrated bluetooth, 3-speed cooling fan and media holder.
The TR5500i is designed to protect your joints and its powerful 4.0 HP continuous-duty DC motor will easily deal with long running sessions.
This is a solid, smooth and quiet machine which is really affordable considering its specifications. The only negative worth mentioning is that it consumes a lot of electricity. Also, some users have reported difficulties when using Bluetooth. (opens in a new tab)” rel=”noreferrer noopener nofollow” class=”rank-math-link”>Read more reviews here >
Life Fitness 97ti Treadmill
Max speed: 15 mph (24.1 km/h) | Incline: -3% – 15% | Max weight capacity: 400 lbs (181.5 kg) | Running area: 20″ x 60″ (51 cm x 152 cm)
Life Fitness is one of the top treadmill brands with over 40 years of experience in the fitness industry. Several of their commercial treadmills can go incredibly fast, probably faster than any other treadmills. So if you are looking for a really fast treadmill you can pick from either Life Fitness 97te Treadmill (top speed: 15 mph) or the 97ti model (top speed: 15 mph). They are both heavy-duty treadmills suitable for long running sessions and heavy use.
However, here we just wanted to highlight the 97ti Treadmill which is slightly cheaper (still pricy though!). It’s a big investment but if you want the top speed, this is it. This treadmill also comes with a decline option (-3%).
Life Fitness 97ti treadmill is a really impressive running machine. It’s suitable for very heavy users accepting up to 400 lbs (181.5 kg) in weight. It’s very heavy though weighing 449 lbs (204 kg) so you will have to think really carefully where to put it not to cause any damage to your flooring or walls.
The 97ti model comes with 28 programs and convenient features such as water bottle holder and magazine rack. It’s well cushioned to protect your joints featuring the FlexDeck Shock Absorption System that has 4 extra-large and 4 large Lifespring™ shock absorbers.
The main negative of this treadmill is its price so you will have to think carefully whether you really need that speed, otherwise we recommend you go with another brand.
